The Vestry of St. James’ Episcopal Church

In the Episcopal Church, the legal governing and decision-making body of each parish is called the Vestry. The Vestry at St. James’ includes 9 Vestry members and 2 Wardens with the Rector as Presiding Officer. Church laws (canons), parish by-laws, and civil laws define the legal responsibilities of the Vestry. The Vestries duties include the calling of the Rector, approving of an annual budget, managing of all the financial and physical (buildings and grounds) resources of the parish.
